Carroll County NH 2022 Candidates

No Red Wave*

The US Senate has stayed blue with one seat still in play! And the US House is closer than anyone expected! Despite aggressive gerrymandering by the GOP and thanks to Democrats’ GOTV effort across Carroll County and across the state, we returned Maggie Hassan and Chris Pappas and Annie Kuster to Washington. reported as of Nov 15 NH Dems picked up 11 seats in the House over 2020, with some recounts still pending. At 202-198 in favor of the Republicans it will be the slimmest majority in memory, which may encourage more collaboration across the aisle. With more than 20 state house recounts underway, these numbers would change.

The Carroll County Democrats ran an effective campaign, connected with voters, strengthened our base, raised a record amount of money, and awakened new awareness of the issues we care about. Statewide, Democrats cast more votes than Republicans. But because of gerrymandering, the minority will be the Majority.

We have the deepest respect for our local candidates. It was clear from the beginning that winning election to local office is a huge challenge in parts of Carroll County. Candidates Bill Marsh, for State Senate, Carrie Duran, Gogi Milner, Bobbi Boudman, Max Gerhing, Knute Orgen, Pat Pustell, Peaco Todd, Gabrielle Watson, Sandra Ringelstein and Jerry Knirk for State House, and Adam Heard and Theresa Swanick for County Commisson, came up short. All ran quality campaigns and contributed immensely to the up-ticket successes we realized. They forged strong ties of partnership.

More than once we heard one of them say how much they appreciated the caring and comraderie of their fellow candidates. Each of them developed their own voice to articulate our Democratic values. We were proud of the quality of candidates we offered across the county. This election has set a new benchmark for us. We can look ahead with confidence that our persistence and effort will pay off.

Whatever your role in this election, we thank you. And we look forward to staying in touch.
